Award: Narrative and Speculation

My Masters thesis project is based on a near future scenario (2031) centered around my research into nationalism, community formation and the changing concepts of citizenship: WITH CONTINUED IMMIGRATION AND THE EXTREME NATIONALIST REACTION AGAINST IT, THE NUMBER OF STATELESS PEOPLE - BOTH VOLUNTARY EXPATS AND INVOLUNTARY REFUGEES - WILL BE AT AN ALL TIME HIGH, THUS CREATING A NEED FOR AN EMBASSY REPRESENTING THE STATELESS.

Illustration of a modern, abstract building on a park with trees, pathways, and water, featuring signs and sculptures.
A digital timeline illustrating global migration trends, climate disasters, COVID-19 impacts, and Russian invasion effects from 2021 to 2030 with notes on voluntary and involuntary migration, border policies, and geopolitical conflicts.
Infographic showing the evolution of the Russian Embassy from a chunk cut from the Russian embassy building, placed at Place de la Concorde, to an occupied, habitable town square. Includes diagrams, map, and illustrations.
A digital graphic illustrating a future where a stateless, borderless world is envisioned. The image contains text discussing the concept, with phrases like '50% of the globe is borderless' and 'entirely borderless world,' accompanied by a cartoon character holding a sign that reads 'Stateless = The Future.' The text highlights the societal shifts towards a borderless, nationless world by 2070, including the abolition of borders and nations, and the concept of a global community without state boundaries.
Illustration of a memorial to the nation-states past, depicting the Statue of Liberty with a sign that says 'Memorial to the Memory of Nation States Past', and a protest with people holding signs that say 'More Borders, Protect the People' and 'Long Live the Stateless Embassy'.
